Woman brings new puppy to Airbnb rental—then he destroys the leather Restoration Hardware couch. Here’s how she fixed it
A content creator on TikTok almost got in trouble due to her puppy’s bad behavior until she used this one trick. In a video with more than 483,000 views, TikToker Jenna Lee (@jennasyap) discussed her experience bringing her dog to a pet-friendly Airbnb. In a situation that she described as her “worst nightmare,” the pet nearly destroyed a leather Restoration Hardware couch.
She shows the leather couch in the clip. It was covered in small scratch marks from her dog digging into the furniture. She then shows her solution, a bottle of “Leather Honey” she purchased online in hopes of getting the scratches out. Worrying about fees because she was staying in an Airbnb, Lee lamented out of worry that the oil wouldn’t work.
Many commenters left replies giving Lee additional advice on how to get the scratch marks off the leather couch.
@Anissa Pisano left a helpful tip for Lee: “Steamer with small towel over it ! Worked at a RH outlet and that’s how we fixed all scratches on leather.”
@Smuerin recommended that Lee “Just let the Airbnb people know” about the situation. Airbnb recommends the same thing. On its website, the company states, “If you, someone you invite, or a pet are responsible for damage during a home stay, service, or experience, let your host know right away. Your host can send you a reimbursement request in our Resolution Center to cover the cost of the damage, and you’ll have 24 hours to respond.”
Did Lee get the scratches out of the couch?
Many people were eager for an update, which Lee provided.
Responding to a comment, Lee stated, “It worked perfectly, I couldn’t believe it.”
The content creator eventually got the scratches out of the couch using leather conditioner, a leather care product that can penetrate deep into the furniture to help supply moisture. Leather conditioners can help soften leather, which can explain why the scratches eventually went away.
However, some commenters warned against using leather conditioner on the couch. User @Lily_t_z wrote, “Most RH leathers have disclaimers to not use leather conditioner.” It’s true that Restoration Hardware doesn’t recommend using conditioners on its couches.

Are pets usually allowed at Airbnb rentals?
Many commenters wondered why Lee brought her dog to Airbnb in the first place. @EricaKing asked, “Why take a puppy to an Airbnb?” Other TikTok users echoed similar sentiments.
While many questioned the decision to bring a dog to a rented space, Airbnb does have pet-friendly properties available for pet owners. With a host’s permission, a person can bring their pet to an Airbnb.
It’s not recommended, however, to bring a pet to an Airbnb without explicit consent from the host. Hosts can charge customers pet fees and seek reimbursements for damages that occur on the property. It’s worth noting that service animals cannot be denied entry to a vacation rental, but emotional support animals are not protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act in the same manner. Hosts can choose to not allow emotional support animals onto their rental property.
